Tools

Configure AI tools and knowledge base for your assistant.

Overview

Tools enable your AI assistant to access information and perform actions during conversations. When you add a website, Hunch automatically discovers available tools by analyzing your site content.

How Tools Work

  1. Automatic Discovery: Hunch scans your website and identifies potential tools
  2. Tool Activation: You choose which tools to enable
  3. AI Usage: The AI uses enabled tools to answer visitor questions

Managing Tools

Viewing Tools

  1. Go to your website settings
  2. Navigate to Tools
  3. View all discovered tools with:
    • Name and description
    • Status (enabled/disabled)
    • Source page

Enabling/Disabling Tools

Toggle individual tools on or off:

  1. Find the tool in the list
  2. Click the toggle switch
  3. Changes apply immediately

Re-analyzing Website

To rediscover tools:

  1. Click Verify (runs a full discovery crawl)
  2. Wait for the analysis to complete
  3. Review the resulting draft, then Approve & Publish

Discovery drafts & review

Every Verify run lands in Tool Drafts as a pending draft with a diff against your live tools — it never overwrites them directly. This is deliberate:

  • Auto-handled, no clicks needed. Runs identical to your live tools (+0/−0/~0) are skipped automatically and never create draft clutter. A meaningful new draft marks older pending drafts superseded, so the queue holds a single actionable item.
  • Still manual: approving real diffs. A crawl can misread a page, and publishing that straight to what visitors' widgets execute is worse than one click. The draft shows you added/removed/modified counts first.
  • First discovery auto-publishes. When a site has no live tools yet, the first run publishes immediately — there is nothing to protect.

So the normal loop is just: Verify → either "live tools already up to date" and you're done, or review one draft → Approve. Rejecting only archives a draft; it never touches live tools, versions, or history.

  4. Test in preview: Test tool responses before going live

Troubleshooting

Tools not appearing:

  • Re-analyze your website
  • Ensure your site is accessible
  • Check for crawl errors in analytics

Tool not working:

  • Verify the tool is enabled
  • Check the source page exists
  • Test manually in chat

Too many tools:

  • Prioritize high-value tools
  • Disable unused tools
  • Consider upgrading your plan
